Pyongyang International Airport (IATA code: FNJ) is the main airport serving Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. The airport is also known as Pyongyang Sunan International Airport.

The construction of a new modern terminal was announced in 2012, including a new control terminal.

As of October 2019, the only two airlines serving the airport are Air China and Air Koryo. The airport serves as a hub for Air Koryo.

Location

The airport is located in the city's Sunan District, ABOUT 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Pyongyang - about a 20-minute drive.

The airport is modern and spotless, with all the basic facilities you may require.

Shopping: The terminal has a newsstand, which sells newspapers, magazines travel essentials. There are two pharmacies in the airport, one in the main hall and one in the boarding area. Shops include a children's store, shoe store, clothing store, CD shop (audio and video DVD), and an electronics shop.

Duty free shopping: Duty free shopping is available.

Eating: There are both Western and Korean cuisine options. Eating outlets can be found in the main hall, where there is a coffee bar. The newsstand also sells snacks.

ATMs: Available.

Postal Services: A postal drop box (letters only) available.

Currency Exchange: Available, inside the main building.

Smoking: Allowed in designated areas.

Other: There is also an internet room.

Lounges Include:

Air Koryo Business Class Lounge: The Business class lounge is on the upper level, Airside, and offers a complimentary buffet, as well as a relaxing and comfortable space to wait. There is also an outdoor viewing area.

Runways

The airport has one runway currently in use, which is designated 01/19 and measures 3,800 by 60 metres (12,470 ft × 200 ft).

Terminals

The airport has two passenger terminals. Terminal 1, which opened in 2016, handles domestic flights. Terminal 2 was completed in 2015 and serves routes to China and Russia. A corridor of various shops connects the two terminal buildings.

Terminal 2 is modern and spacious, with a glass front. Inside, the arrival hall is on the first floor, the departure hall is on the second floor, and shops and restaurants mostly on the third floor.
