Credit Europe Bank signs deal with JCB

Russia-based Credit Europe Bank has announced the acceptance of JCB cards on its ATM and POS network. The bank operates 11,000 POS terminals and 514 ATMs, as well as providing acquiring services to major retailers throughout Europe. JCB International, the globe-trotting subsidiary of the Japan-headquartered JCB group, has also recently made moves into similar markets. “JCB started card issuing business with local banks in Russia in 2015 and the cardmember base has been expanding,” said Takashi Suetsugu, general director for JCB International Eurasia. “The partnership with Credit Europe Bank will make JCB cardmembers feel more comfortable to use their cards, enhance JCB presence in the market and increase JCB brand awareness.

While not a primary card network like rivals Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express, JCB has strong representation in the Asia-Pacific region. Anton Ryazanov, head of payment systems and key partners management at Credit Europe Bank, said of the deal: “We are pleased to be among the banks which accept JCB cards and we are positive that this partnership will benefit both our businesses. “JCB will gain wider JCB card acceptance, and we will significantly improve our services by providing partners the opportunity to expand the range of payment cards they accept and attract more new customers from all over the world”
