Air Astana is one of the largest airlines operating in Kazakhstan. The airline is based in Almaty with a hub at Almaty International Airport as well as in Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev International Airport with a focus on Atyrau International Airport. Air Astana operates a range of destinations domestically as well as to cities in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. A fleet of Airbus A320neo, A321, A321neo, A321LR, Boeing 767 and Embraer E190 aircraft are used on their services with further Boeing 787 aircraft on order. Air Astana has partnered with a range of other international airlines to offer codeshare and interline services.

Fly Arystan is an airline based in Almaty and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Astana. Qazaq Air has based the majority of its operations from its hub airport of Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev International Airport. SCAT Airlines is a Kazakh airline based at Shymkent Airport but has a focus on Aktau International Airport, Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, and Almaty International Airport. SCAT offers one of the most expansive domestic route maps of any airline in Kazakhstan as with their operations and services from Southern Sky a total of 22 domestic destinations are served. The airline also offers some international services to destinations including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Georgia, India, Lithuania, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
