Begin by signing into the Manage My Booking portal by entering your booking reference number. Once you're logged in, you'll see the option to cancel or make changes to your scheduled Lufthansa flights. We'll show you the amount you are entitled to receive based on Lufthansa's Carriage of Contract rules surrounding cancellations before you decide whether to cancel or not.
If you have added Cancel For Any Reason coverage to your flights, you can use it here. Activating Cancel For Any Reason will get you a partial refund equal to 70% of the total booking cost (in 30 days). You will have the option to activate this coverage up until 48 hours before your departing flight.
If you added Cancellation Protection to your flights, you can get a full refund if you need to cancel your flights for emergency reasons. You can find out what constitutes an emergency by checking our Cancellation Protection Terms and Conditions.
Note: Most airlines tickets are non-refundable as per the terms and conditions of the airline.

When you book with Alternative Airlines you will be eligible for a full or partial refund for your Lufthansa flights if you added Cancellation Protection or Cancel For Any Reason while you were booking. You're also eligible for a refund if you booked a refundable Lufthansa Ticket with us.
If you book a refundable flight ticket, you are able to receive a refund up until the point of departure, however, you may be required to pay a cancellation fee. Refundable flights with Lufthansa are available when you book with Alternative Airlines. Be sure to check our fare rules during your booking to see if your ticket is refundable or not.
Cancellation Protection allows you to cancel your flights with Lufthansa for emergency reasons. Some examples of what are considered 'emergency' include but are not limited to court summons, injury and/or transport failure. For a small cancellation fee, you will receive a full refund if your reason for cancellation is listed in our Refund Protect terms and conditions.
If you need to cancel your flight with Lufthansa for some other reason that isn't covered by our Cancellation Protection policy, then you might want to consider our other ancillary package: Cancel For Any Reason. If you add Cancel For Any Reason to your booking during checkout for your Lufthansa flights, you have the choice to cancel them for any reason whatsoever and get a refund of 70% of your bookings total cost within 30 days.
In short, yes. If you cancel your flight with Lufthansa within 24 hours of booking you are guaranteed a full refund. If you've booked your Lufthansa flight with Alternative Airlines, you are still entitled to the airlines policy of cancelling within 24 hours and receive a refund. However, you must contact us during our operating hours.
If you would like to cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking, it is imperative you contact us between 9am - 8pm UK time (GMT) if you want to cancel your Lufthansa flights within the 24 hour window and be valid for a refund.
If you fail to contact us during our hours of operation we won't be able to honour Lufthansa's 24 hour cancellation policy, as Lufthansa may not distribute your refund to us.

By adding Cancellation Protection at checkout, we will guarantee a full refund if you need to cancel your Lufthansa flight for emergency reasons. Get a partial refund through Cancel For Any Reason:
If you want the freedom of cancelling your flight for any reason at all, and redeeming a 70% refund then you can do so by applying Cancel For Any Reason coverage to your Lufthansa flights. Your refund will arrive 30 days after cancellation.
Get a refund from a refundable Lufthansa ticket:
Refundable Lufthansa flights are, of course, always eligible for refunds. However, in order to redeem said refund a cancellation fee may be required. If you purchased a non-refundable Lufthansa ticket with none of our ancillary options applied, you will not be entitled to a refund.
Lufthansa's policy for cancellation is fairly standard among European airlines. Their 24 hour cancellation policy allows you to get a full refund so long as you cancel your flights with them within the 24 hour cancellation window. The clock starts when you submit your booking. After this period completes, you will be unable to get a refund unless you purchased one of our ancillary packages or a refundable ticket.
If you booked your Lufthansa flights through Alternative Airlines, we want to make it clear that you must cancel your Lufthansa flights during our operating hours (between 9AM and 8PM GMT.) This is to ensure we are able to process your request and honour Lufthansa's 24 hour cancellation policy window.
If you contact us beyond our operating hours we may not get your refund request within the provided 24 hours, which will invalidate your ability to get a refund.
