2 Montenegro (To Montenegro) is the flag carrier of Montenegro. It plans to offer full-service flights from its base, which is likely to be at either Podgorica Airport (TGD) or Tivat Airport (TIV). The airline will offer flights from Montenegro to destinations across Europe, likely to be across countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Russia and more.
2 Montenegro was created as a direct replacement of Montenegro's previous flag carrier, Montenegro Airlines, which ceased operations in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Montenegro Airlines' liquidation left the country not only without a flag carrier but without any airline that offered scheduled passenger flights whatsoever. As a result, the Montenegro government announced 2 Montenegro as the new flag carrier just days after Montenegro Airlines stopped flying in December 2020.
2 Montenegro is expected to take over many of Montenegro Airlines' old routes, employ a number of its staff and also try and acquire its fleet.
There are no confirmed destinations for 2 Montenegro. However, the airline is expected to take over a number of routes that the previous flag carrier flew. This includes flying from Montenegro to destinations such as London, Vienna, Saint Petersburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Lyon, Copenhagen and more.
The free baggage allowance for 2 Montenegro is not confirmed. But, it's expected to offer the same free baggage allowance as the previous flag carrier. The following provisional allowances would be included within the price of the ticket.
One item of carry-on baggage with a maximum weight of 10 kg. This bag must not exceed the overall dimensions of 115 cm (45") overall. This is regardless of cabin class.
For Economy Class passengers: one item of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg. This bag must not exceed the overall dimensions of 158 cm (62").
For Business Class passengers: two items of checked baggage with a maximum combined weight of 32 kg. Each bag can not exceed the overall dimensions of 158 cm (62").
The airline is expected to have Economy Class and Business Class cabins. Although, the details of each cabin and its facilities and benefits are not yet known.
The airline is not expected to have WIFI or an in-flight entertainment system that plays videos and music on its flights.
It may have an in-flight magazine for each passenger to read, which will feature various articles on the airline and destinations that it travels to.
As a full-service carrier, the airline is expected to offer in-flight meals, snacks and drinks to its passengers throughout the flight. As the airline will be flying short-haul flights, the meals will not be included within the price of the flight. However, passengers will have a wide selection of food and drink to choose from and special meals (for dietary requirements) will be able to pre-order in the time leading up to the flight.
Although there's no frequent flyer program announced at this time. It's expected that 2 Montenegro will have a frequent flyer program that will reward passengers that are loyal to the airline. It's expected that the program will follow the traditional miles/points system, which allows passengers to earn points/miles every time that they fly with the airline and spend those points/miles on future flights and enjoy benefits such as priority check-in, extended baggage allowances and airport lounge access.
It's unknown whether passengers that were part of Montenegro Airline's Vision Team frequent flyer program will have their existing accounts and points/miles transferred over to 2 Montenegro's new frequent flyer program.
The airline will fly a fleet of Embraer 195 aircraft, which it will take over from Montenegro Airlines. It's unknown if the airline will take over all of its fleet but it has already confirmed it will use at least one of the former national carrier's planes.
The hub airport for 2 Montenegro is unknown at this time. It's expected to fly out of either Podgorica Airport (TGD) or Tivat Airport (TIV). The previous flag carrier used Podgorica Airport as its main hub and Tivat Airport as its secondary hub. However, 2 Montenegro might change this, depending on route demand.
