Step 2 - Select Payflex at checkout

Once you've selected your flight, you'll be taken to our checkout.

Here you'll see all our ways to pay, including with one of our Buy Now Pay Later lenders. If you're a resident of South Africa, you'll be able to select Payflex as your method of payment.

You'll be asked to log in to your Payflex account. If you don't have one, there's no need to worry. Creating an account is a quick and easy process.

Once you're logged in, select your instalment plan.

Payflex is an interest-free Buy Now Pay Later lender in South Africa. It's available to South African residents aged 18 and above with a good credit score.

Payflex is one of the 20+ pay-later lenders available at Alternative Airlines. When you select Payflex at checkout, you'll either pay for your flights in 4 interest-free instalments over 6 weeks or in 3 interest-free payments over 3 paydays.

Additional fees will apply for missed payments.

How does Payflex work?

Payflex is a Buy Now Pay Later lender that can be used to break up the cost of your flights.

They're essentially giving you a loan for your tickets, which you'll then pay back over an agreed time frame. This means that depending on when you booked, you can fly before your payments are up!

Can I use Payflex to buy flights at Alternative Airlines?

Yes! If you're a South African resident, then you can use Payflex to pay for any of your flights at Alternative Airlines.

With the help of Payflex, you can choose to pay for your flights in either 4 interest-free instalments over 6 weeks or in 3 interest-free payments over 3 paydays.

Is it safe to use Payflex?

Payflex is a trusted payment provider. All payments are processed through secure, PCI-compliant systems, ensuring your transactions are safe.

Is it easy to apply for a Payflex account?

Absolutely! It’s super easy. To create a Payflex account, all you need is your South African ID number.

Are there any hidden fees or additional fees?

Payflex is an interest-free Buy Now Pay Later lender that won't charge you any extra for your flights. There's only one exception to this. If you miss a payment, then you will incur a late fee charge.


For Pay In 4 Payment Plans:
Total penalty default fees charged shall be capped at R255.00 (including VAT), or 50% of the Purchase Price (including VAT).
Penalties are calculated as follows:
A R85.00 fee is charged the day after you default. Further default fees apply for every week that the unpaid amount remains outstanding. So, another R85.00 fee is charged on day 7 and day 14 of the default period. Default fees for late payment are capped at R255.00. Please seeĀ Section 8Ā of theĀ terms and conditionsĀ on Payflex's website for more information.


For Pay in 3 Payment Plans:
Total penalty default fees charged shall be capped at R375 (including VAT).
Penalties are calculated as follows:
A R125.00 fee is charged the day after you default. Further default fees apply for every week that the unpaid amount remains outstanding. So, another R125.00 fee is charged on day 7 and day 14 of the default period. Default fees for late payment are capped at R375.00.

When will my payments be due?

Your payment schedule will depend on whether you chose the Pay in 3 or Pay in 4 option.

For Pay in 4: Your first payment is made on the day of purchase, and the remaining three payments are automatically deducted every two weeks, over six weeks.

For Pay in 3: Your first payment is made on the day of purchase, and the remaining balance is split into two payments, which are automatically deducted on your next two paydays.

Why wasn’t my application accepted?

If your application was rejected, this usually means you didn't meet one of Payflex's requirements.

To be eligible for Payflex, you must:

  1. Have a South African ID.
  2. Be over 18 years old.
  3. Have a South African-issued Visa, debit, cheque or credit card.
  4. Have an acceptable credit score.

How to use Payflex on Alternative Airlines?

If you're a resident of South Africa, then you'll see Payflex as an available option at our checkout.

Once you select Payflex at checkout, you'll be asked to sign into your Payflex account. If you don't have a Payflex login, then you can create an account in a few quick steps.

When you have your account connected, select your instalment plan, then pay for your flights over the agreed timeframe.
