Can I book one-way car rentals with Routes?

Yes, you can book one-way car rentals with Routes, however, this option is not available at every location. For example, if you're renting from Atlanta Airport, you can rent a car one-way with an additional drop-off fee.

Select the one-way option on the search bar above to filter the results by one-way car rentals. For more information on fees and one-way rental policies, please check your specific rental agreement before purchase.

Does Routes accept personal insurance policies?

What is Routes fuel and mileage policy?

Routes mileage policy varies depending on your rental location and whether you are considered a local renter. For example, at Routes LAX, there is unlimited mileage for non-local California driver license holders who provide proof of a round-trip flight ticket and a current boarding pass. Local Californian renters get 150 miles per day.

Fuel policies also vary by rental location. Many locations have a full-to-full (fuel to fuel) policy, which means you must return your rental car with as much fuel or more than the amount that was in the car upon pick up (there is a charge if the fuel is under).

For location-specific fuel and mileage policies, please read your rental agreement for more information.

    Routes Car Rental FAQ

Do I need a flight number to rent a car with Routes

No, you don't need a flight number to rent a car with Routes from most of their destinations.

However, this does vary around airport locations in particular. For example, Routes advises that all customers must have a valid return airline ticket in order to rent a car with Routes from:

    • Chicago (ORD)
    • Denver (DEN)
    • Atlanta (ATL)
    • Orlando (MCO)

You are considered a "local renter" and are subject to local renter policies if you cannot provide proof of a round-trip airline ticket that includes the rental period.

Please check your rental agreement before reserving your vehicle to make sure whether your location requires proof of a round-trip flight and any further details.

    Does Routes offer unlimited mileage?

Yes, Routes does offer unlimited mileage options on many of its rentals, but not all of them. Local renters aren't eligible for unlimited mileage rentals through Routes.

When offered, unlimited mileage is only for rentals within the state where the vehicle is rented. Your rental car is not allowed to leave the state of the rental location without written permission from Routes Car Rental (otherwise, an additional fee will be incurred).

If you plan to drive between states, other than a crossing fee, your mileage will be capped at 2500 miles per rental. Travel to Canada and Mexico is not permitted.

Please check your specific rental agreement for further information.

At Alternative Airlines, you can filter your rental search by mileage policy to find rentals with unlimited mileage. All you've got to do is make a search and select "unlimited mileage" from the filter menu on the search results page.
