Air Astra is a new proposed airline in Bangladesh looking to launch their services by January 2022, similar to Fly Dhaka who is another Bangladeshi airline start-up looking to do the same. The airline is planning to fly to 7 domestic destinations using a fleet of ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Due to the local regulatory restrictions, Air Astra can only operate domestic routes in its first year of service. Therefore, international services won't be available until at least January 2023.
Air Astra has yet to announce the destinations they are planning to fly to. However, it's likely that they'll only fly domestic routes in the first year of launch due to local authority restrictions. In the second year of operations, the airline may operate to international destinations.
Carry-on baggage allowance will be available closer to the airline launch.
For safety reasons, all carry-on items must fit within the overhead lockers and under the seat so they'd be secured during the flight. Any items exceeding the dimensions won't be accepted by the airline. These items are also subject to security checks at the airport.
Prohibited items including any fluid exceeding 100ml will be confiscated by security. Containers with any fluid should be placed in a plastic bag for airport security checks.
Checked baggage allowance will be released closer to the launch date.
As a general rule, checked baggage must not exceed 32kg (70lbs) in weight or it may be treated as cargo.
Details for online check-in isn't currently available. Please visit the airline website for more information.
If online check-in is available, you're advised to check-in online prior to arriving at the airport as you'd save time from queuing at the airport. You may be able to obtain your boarding passes once online check-in is completed.
At Alternative Airlines, we recommend that you arrive at the airline check-in counters 2 hours before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights and 3 hours for international flights.
You should have your travel documents ready including a visa for entry if required and report to the airline check-in counters once you arrived at the airport. The airline check-in desks are located in the designated check-in area listed on the departure information board at the airport.
It's unclear whether Air Astra would offer a frequent flyer program.
More details will follow closer to the airline launch date.
Air Astra isn't part of an airline alliance.

More information awaits from Air Astra closer to the launch date. It's unclear as to where Air Astra will be based in Bangladesh.
