Why book domestic flights within Panama?

Panama is a popular introduction to Central America. This is partly because Panama is one of the easiest countries in Central America to travel around. Most will fly to the country’ capital, Panama City, which is bursting with culture and things to do and see. However, the country also has diverse rainforests and national parks, as well as beautiful beaches, (world renowned scuba diving) and incredible trekking opportunities. With all domestic flights lasting less than an hour with the country, they are a convenient option for travelers who can quickly and easily discover all the country has to offer.

The largest domestic airport in the country is Aeropuerto Marcos A. Gelabert, which is located in the Albrook neighborhood of downtown Panama City. Tocumen International Airport, located just outside Panama City, also has a domestic terminal, which mostly connects travellers to destinations in western Panama.

There is currently only one scheduled passenger airline providing domestic flights within Panama: Air Panama. Air Panama’s domestic flights provide a convenient onward connection to a number of destinations. For example, a flight between Panama City and David offers easy onward connections to destinations including Boquete and the Gulf of Chiriquí.

The second airline based in Panama, Copa Airlines, is based at Tocumen International Airport and provides international flights to the country, but doesn’t operate domestic flights.

There are also a small number of airlines that operate flights within Panama on a private charter basis.
