Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the best airport to fly into if you're visiting Walt Disney World in Florida. The airport is only a 20–30 minute drive from the resort (traffic depending).

There are tonnes of different airlines that offer direct flights to Orlando International, from within the US, as well as from Europe, Central America and South America too.

From certain destinations, you might not be able to find a direct connection to Orlando International Airport. If that's the case, you might have to fly into another US airport, such as New York (JFK) or Atlanta (ATL) and then get a connecting flight to Orlando. The only other option is Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). Orlando Sanford is a 40–60 minute drive away from Walt Disney World in Florida. There are far fewer airlines that fly to Orlando Sanford. However, if you're looking for a cheap deal, it's worth comparing between the two Orlando airports.

Yes, it's possible to get flights to Walt Disney World from anywhere in the world. Airlines offer return flights to Orlando (the closest city) from all over the world.

What's the best way to get from Orlando airport to Disney World?

If you're staying at one of the resort hotels, there is a free shuttle bus that runs from the airport called the Magical Express. This service is only available to guests of the resort, though.

If you can't get a ride on the Magical Express, there are other independent shuttle bus services that can you buy a ticket for.

The airport also has taxi services, available to book from the terminal after you land. Or, you can use popular taxi app services, such as Uber and Lyft.

What is the cheapest month to go to Disney?

On average, when considering theme park tickets and hotels, January and February tend to be the cheapest months to visit. Although, this can depend on which hotel you're staying at.

In terms of flights, there doesn't tend to be a consistently cheapest month to fly. However, you're unlikely to find many cheap fares over the summer period when kids are on summer vacation away from school.

Can I fly to Disney World right now?

Yes, you can fly to Walt Disney World right now. Disney World's parks and resorts were closed to the general public for much of 2020, due to restrictions as a result of coronavirus. However, in 2021, all of the parks have re-opened, including the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach Water Park and all the other favourites. The only park that remains closed is Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

What are the COVID restrictions?

All guests (aged 2 years or older) must wear face coverings at indoor locations at the resort. Face coverings can be removed in outdoor common areas.

There are currently international travel restrictions in place in the US. Most people entering the country from abroad have to self-quarantine. Or, in some cases, must quarantine in a hotel.

There are far fewer restrictions for domestic travel. The majority of states don't require you to quarantine or provide negative COVID tests when entering Florida.

It's very important to check the travel restrictions for Florida, as well as the travel restrictions from the destination that you're flying from before you fly.
