  • 4 interest-free instalments - Paid over 6 weeks, make the first installment upfront and plan the following 3 payments to be debited every 2 weeks.

What is Payflex?

Payflex is a South African buy now, pay later lender that offers interest-free installment plans to help split the cost of your purchases. It's available to South African residents aged 18 and above with a good credit score.


When you pick Payflex at checkout, you can spread your rental cost over 2, 3 or 4 interest-free payment plans, which can be paid over 6 weeks or over 2 or 3 paydays leading up to your collection date.


Additional fees are incurred for missed payments.

How does Payflex work for car rentals?

Payflex works by splitting the cost of your rental into manageable installments, which are paid off over time.


They're essentially giving you a loan for your rental cost, which you then pay back over your agreed payment schedule. This means that you can drive before you finish paying, depending on when you booked and your chosen payment plan.

Is it easy to apply for a Payflex account?

Absolutely! Its really easy to apply for a Payflex account. To create a Payflex account, all you need is your South African ID number.

When will my Payflex payments be due?

Your payment schedule depends on what Payflex plan you have chosen:

  • Pay in 2 - Your first payment is made on the day of purchase, with the remaining payment being deducted the following month.
  • Pay in 3 - Your first payment is made on the day of purchase. The remaining balance is split into two payments, which are automatically deducted on your next two paydays.
  • Pay in 4 - Your first payment is made on the day of purchase. The remaining three payments are deducted every two weeks, over 6 weeks.
Can my Payflex application be denied?

Yes, your Payflex application can be rejected. If your application is rejected its usually because you didn't meet one of Payflex's requirements:


To use Payflex you must:

  • Have a South African ID
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a South African-issued Visa, debit, cheque or credit card
  • Have an acceptable credit score

Are there any hidden fees or additional fees when using Payflex for car rentals?

Payflex is an interest-free Buy Now Pay Later lender that won't charge you any extra for rental cost. There's only one exception to this. If you miss a payment, then you will incur a late fee charge.


For Pay in 3 Payment Plans:
Total penalty default fees charged shall be capped at R375 (including VAT).
Penalties are calculated as follows:
A R125.00 fee is charged the day after you default. Further default fees apply for every week that the unpaid amount remains outstanding. So, another R125.00 fee is charged on day 7 and day 14 of the default period. Default fees for late payment are capped at R375.00.

For Pay In 4 Payment Plans:
Total penalty default fees charged shall be capped at R255.00 (including VAT), or 50% of the Purchase Price (including VAT).
Penalties are calculated as follows:
A R85.00 fee is charged the day after you default. Further default fees apply for every week that the unpaid amount remains outstanding. So, another R85.00 fee is charged on day 7 and day 14 of the default period. Default fees for late payment are capped at R255.00.
