Established in San Antonio, Texas, in 1963 by Kenneth and Helen Walker, Advantage was founded under the name "$3.99 Car Rentals" with just 5 vehicles in its fleet. It wasn't until 1984 that the Advantage name was adopted.
Today, Advantage is owned by Orlando Rentco LCC, which also owns EZ Rent a Car. The brand also has 25 international locations operated by independent affiliate partners across 11 countries.

What you'll pay at the counter
Charges you may need to pay at pick-up may include:
- Refundable security deposit - Held on your credit or debit card at pick-up. Amounts vary by location and card type used. This charge is released after return. You will still need to pay a security deposit even if you book an Advantage car through Alternative Airlines.
- Liability insurance - Bring proof of your own (card cover doesn't apply) or purchase at the counter. Required by Florida state law.
- Damage Waiver (CDW) - Optional add-on covering your if your vehicle is damaged or stolen.
- Late or after-hours return - You will be charged a late or after-hours return fee if you return your car after your agreed time.
- Additional drivers - Charged daily per extra driver. Additional drivers must meet Advantage's eligibility criteria.
