2021 — why not end it in the most spectacular way possible and go abroad for New Year's Eve? We know what you’re thinking — ‘the world is a big place! How will I choose?’ And with New Year’s Eve only coming round once a year, you’ll want to make sure that you pick a new year destination that’s worthy of the biggest party of the year (especially after missing out in 2020!)
Don’t worry — Alternative Airlines has you covered. We’ve compiled a list of some of the world’s best places to celebrate New Year’s, with each one sure to make 2022 start off with a bang.
31st December, of course! In 2021, New Year’s Eve falls on a Friday, which means New Year’s Day will be on Saturday 1st January 2022. Although, not every country celebrates New Year’s on 31st December. For example, Chinese New Year falls on Tuesday 1st February 2022.
Due to time zone differences, different countries will be celebrating New Year’s Eve at different points in time on 31st December. So, while you might be waking up in 2022 with a dry mouth and a pounding headache, people on the other side of the world might only just be starting their new year countdown.
In the Apia time zone, the countries of Samoa and Kribati celebrate New Year’s Eve on 31st December before any other country in the world.
Many of the US Minor Outlying Islands celebrate New Year’s Eve last, this includes islands such as Howland Island in the Hawaii-Aleutian Standard time zone and Baker Island in the Wallis & Futuna time zone.
Head to Central London for UK’s most impressive firework display of the year. Watch London's best new years fireworks as the sky lights up with a million different colours as Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the London Eye are illuminated in the backdrop. If you don’t fancy paying the £10 GBP for entry, we recommend heading to Primrose Hill where you can join the thousands of others that congregate at London’s best location for viewing the fireworks for free!
The best airport to fly into if you’re travelling to London is either London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW). British Airways is the national carrier of the United Kingdom. You can also fly into London on airlines such as easyJet, Norwegian, Flybe and Virgin Atlantic.
