MIAT Mongolian Airlines, commonly known as simply MIAT or Mongolian Airlines, is the Mongolian national airline and flag carrier, which is headquartered in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and operates to many destinations.
The only other international carrier, Hunnu Airlines, launched in 2011 with former MIAT employees. MIAT's business is highly seasonal as it caters to the peak northern summer period, which is the only main tourism season and is also when Mongolia has long holidays, allowing wealthier Mongolians to travel.

The airline flies to a number of destinations across Asia and Europe. These destinations include Ulaanbaatar, Moscow, Berlin, Frankfurt, Erlian, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Osaka and Tokyo.
The airline has codeshare agreements with Aeroflot and Korean Air. The airlines has an interline Electronic Ticketing Agreement and Special Proteate Agreement with Airberlin. With these agreements, MIAT Mongolian Airlines passengers have more flexibility when travelling to selected European, US and Canadian cities through Airberlin's extensive route network at very attractive prices.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines is headquartered in the MIAT building in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The airline operates from its base at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. MIAT Mongolian Airlines in January 2016 launched a direct service to Delhi from its capital city Ulanbator by March that year. The airline is one of the two international Mongolian carriers in the east-central Asian country.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines' fleet consists of Boeing 737-800s with 12 seats in Business Class and 150 seats in Economy Class. In addition to MIAT's Boeing 737, they also have 2 Boeing 767-300ER's again offering a two class service. Either 18 or 25 seats in business class and 245 or 195 seats in economy (depending on the aircraft).
In January 2019, MIAT announced flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou in China to start from summer of 2019. In addition, it announced the leasing of 3 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to be delivered in January, May, and October 2019, thereby replacing two of its aircraft whose leases are due to expire in 2019, together with the implementation of a self-check-in system.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines' has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage policy. Which cabin class you are flying in, will have an impact on your allowance.
MIAT allows its passengers two pieces of carry-on baggage for Business Class with a total weight of 10 kg and one piece for Economy with a total weight of 5 kg.
MIAT allows its Business Class passengers two pieces of checked baggage at 32kg per bag and one piece of checked baggage at 23kg for Economy Class passengers.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines' customers can choose between Economy or Business Class for their flights.
Economy Class passengers can order food and drink from the airlines' meal and refreshment service, which will be offered once airborne.
Passengers can enjoy a range of entertainment from the airline's in-flight entertainment system. Each passenger has a personal monitor which is fitted to the seat in front of them.
Seats are set out in a 2 x 3 x 2 formation on longer flights and a 3 x 3 formation on shorter flights. Seats are designed to give ample room and comfort, particularly in the 2 x 3 x 2 formation, where the formation allows for more space when compared to airlines that use bigger formations on similarly sized aircraft.
Business Class passengers are given special attention from the airline's flight attendants.
Each passenger can enjoy unlimited complimentary snacks and drinks, as well as a delicious hot meal served on every flight.
Passengers are also given an amenity kit, which comes with two pairs of slippers, a toothbrush and toothpaste, earplugs and body lotion.
The airline's inflight entertainment system can be used to watch a range of TV shows, movies and engage in other entertainment such as music and games. Each passenger has their own personal monitor, which is larger than those in Economy Class.
The Business Class cabin is set out in a 2 x 1 x 2 or 2 x 2 x 2 formation with 18–25 seats overall on long-haul flights and a 2 x 2 formation with 12 seats overall on short-haul flights. Business Class seats give generous legroom and recline but don't transform fully-flat.
Each seat can be controlled by a touch control remote and has a power outlet and TV monitor fitted into the back of the seat.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines' only have check-in available at the airport.
Unfortunately, the airlines does not offer online check-in. However, you can check-in at the airport.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines recommend that passengers arrive at the airport 2 hours and 30 minutes before their flight departures as to leave enough time to check-in and go through security.
MIAT operates a frequent flyer program called Blue Sky Mongolia to reward regular travellers with MIAT Mongolian Airlines. Blue Sky Mongolia program provides its members with opportunities to earn Blue Sky miles and earn substantial opportunities to get bonus miles during promotion campaigns. To ensure passengers receive these advantages, passengers should present their membership card when making reservations and check-in for flights.
