Amaszonas, (also known as the official name of Línea Aérea Amaszonas) is a Bolivian based airline, headquartered in La Paz, Bolivia. It currently operates scheduled and chartered short-haul passenger flights throughout the northern and northeastern regions of the country as well as to neighbouring Peru, with its network's hub being located at El Alto International Airport.
The airline was founded on 1 October 1998, but flight services were only commenced in 2000. Initially only operating chartered services using a small fleet of turboprop aircraft, it grew in 2012 and acquired larger aircraft offing scheduled passengers services.
In August 2021 it was announced that the airline has been acquired by US-based Nella Airlines Inc, but will remain operational. The international group identified an opportunity to acquire Amaszonas and integrate the airline into the company's plan for growth in Latin America.
Baggage allowance will depend on the destination you're flying to/from.
For carry-on baggage, Amazonas allows baggage up to 5kg or 30 cm x 20 cm x 27 cm. Checked in baggage must not exceed 20kg for adult and 10kg for children from 2 to 12 years.
For domestic flights, passengers are entitled to 20Kg of complimentary checked baggage allowance. On international flights, passengers are entitled to 23Kg of complimentary checked baggage.
Amaszonas Economy Class is the airline's only cabin class that it offers.
There's no in-flight entertainment system on the flight. However, passengers may be given a copy of the airline's in-flight magazine, depending on the route flown.
The airline serves a small selection of food and drinks onboard.
Seats are set out in a 2 x 2 formation. The aircraft has a total of 50 seats in the cabin. The cabin is designed to give ample legroom and good comfort for each passenger.
The Bolivian airline flies to destinations across Bolivia, including the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, Cochabamba, Oruro, Sucre, Tarija, and Uyuni.
Although the airline primarily operates domestically in Bolivia, it also flies to Asuncion, in Paraguay, and Iquique, in Chile. It owns Amaszonas Uruguay, which flies to Uruguay, but these operations have been dormant during the Coronavirus pandemic. It is not yet known whether these flights will be resumed. After the bankruptcy ofAlas Uruguay, the airline was one of the few airlines left offering services to Montevideo.
