Alternative Airlines is officially one of the UK's Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing!

16 February 2023 – Alternative Airlines has officially been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing (2023) by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture.

Sam Argyle, Managing Director at Alternative Airlines, commented: “To be officially certified as one of the  UK’s best workplaces for wellbeing is a massive accolade and testament to the importance that we place on the wellbeing of our employees. Our employees’ dedication and hard work is phenomenal, so it is important to us to be just as dedicated to them. Fostering a positive, supportive and empowering work culture is at the heart of Alternative Airlines — we want our entire team to feel happy and fulfilled.

There are lots of reasons why employees at Alternative Airlines believe it’s a great place to work. In 2022, Alternative Airlines launched a new employee benefits package, which includes generous flight credit up to £1,000 and 2 days of additional annual leave to be dedicated to personal wellness. The company also places a significant emphasis on personal and professional development, with policies in place to encourage internal progression, and is supportive of staff at every level. A Great Place to Work® recently carried out an independent survey of Alternative Airlines and found that 97% of the company’s employees agreed that they’re treated like a full member regardless of their position.

Alternative Airlines also recognises the importance of balancing work-life demands, with flexible approaches to working. The survey also found that 97% of Alternative Airlines’ employees agreed that they’re encouraged to balance their work and personal life when working at Alternative Airlines.

Shelley Tasker, Shelley Tasker, Head of Operations and HR at Alternative Airlines, commented: “I’m incredibly proud that Alternative Airlines’ dedication to employee wellness has been officially recognised. We want all our staff to feel acknowledged and valued, and we have a number of policies and initiatives in place to support this. There’s also more that we want to do within this area, and the recent employee survey that we recently ran with Great Place to Work® has helped provide invaluable insights and feedback from our employees.”

Great Place to Work’s culture experts analysed thousands of employee surveys, assessing people’s holistic experiences of wellbeing at work to determine the UK's Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing list.  The surveys asked employees to comment on how their company supports their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security. Evaluations also included an assessment of how well the organisation was able to deliver consistency of their employee experience across all departments and seniority levels.

At the heart of every organisation are its people and looking after their wellbeing should be much more than a package of impressive perks on a careers website,” explains Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK. “We know when employees feel genuinely content and at ease within their roles, they are much more engaged and productive.  Now in our second year of the UK's Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing list, we’re once again able to showcase the leading organisations providing cultures conducive to outstanding psychological, physical and social wellbeing.  A huge congratulations to Alternative Airlines] for making this prestigious list.”
