Please note that the rules for unaccompanied minors will vary depending on the airline that you choose to fly with. Many airlines don't allow children to fly alone under the age of 8; however, this will change depending on the airline.

On most airlines, infants between the ages of 0 to 2 are able to fly for free on domestic flights as they are able to sit on their parent/guardians' lap. However, children over the age of 2 must pay for a flight ticket and have their own seat on the aircraft. Many airlines will only charge between 50% to 80% of an adult ticket, for a child flight ticket. This means that children's tickets are often cheaper than adult tickets, meaning that you'll save money on flights.

Buying a ticket for an infant can be a little confusing, as you may be uncertain about which type of flight ticket to buy for your child. Infants aged between 0 and 2 won't need to pay for a flight ticket on most flights, as they can sit on a parent's lap.
If you wish to add an infant to your booking, then select the '+' button next to the infant section. Although the price of a flight ticket for an infant might be free, it allows the airline to track how many people will be on board and what facilities will be needed. If you're travelling with an infant, you can request a cot or a bassinet, depending on the airline you're flying with.

You'll then be taken to the next page where you'll need to fill in the passenger details information. Once you enter the child's date of birth, Alternative Airlines will automatically recognise that there's an unaccompanied minor in the booking.
As Alternative Airlines has flagged that a child is flying alone, you'll need to enter the parent/guardian's contact information. Please note that each airline has different unaccompanied minor rules and regulations that you must follow.
