Spirit Airlines is an American ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Miramar, Florida. The airline has two major operating hubs: Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) and Detroit Airport (DTW).
Spirit Airlines operates scheduled flights to over 60 destinations throughout the United States as well as international destinations including Latin and South America. Some of the most popular domestic destinations include Florida, Chicago-O'Hare, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando and Tampa.
Spirit Airlines began a transition in 2007 to re-brand themselves as an ultra low-cost carrier, with the new slogan 'Less Money, More Go'. The 'ultra low-cost' is reflected in the low cost of the tickets. Passengers are given the ability to choose what extras and additional options they require, such as baggage allowance, on-board refreshments, and seat selection, to add on to the base fare.

Checked and carry-on baggage are added extras that need to be bought as excess baggage. Only small personal items such as laptops, handbags and backpacks are included with the bare fare Spirit Airlines ticket.
To keep ticket prices low, the airline charges for carry-on baggage. It is recommended to pre-book any baggage allowance that you will need when you purchase your airline ticket. All carry-on bags must fit within the dimensions of 56 x 46 x 25 cm (22" x 18" x 10").
Checked baggage allowance must be purchased; fees are route dependant. Checked baggage on Spirit Airlines flights must fit within the dimensions of the overall dimensions of 158cm (62") and must not weigh more than 18kg (40lbs) unless purchased as oversized baggage.
One personal item is included within your ticket fare. Personal items on Spirit Airlines flights must fit within the dimensions of 45 x 35 x 20 cm (18" x14" x 8"). Examples of personal items include small handbags and laptop bags.

Spirit Airlines' has a single cabin available, providing a single class: Economy. There is also the option to upgrade to 'The Big Seat', which is the airline's Premium Economy product.
Economy Class is Spirit's most basic cabin class.
Passengers in Economy Class on Spirit are given access to the airline's inflight menu, where they can order a variety of hot and cold snacks, as well as a selection of beverages. Refreshments have a fee and can be purchased using a debit or credit card (cash not accepted).
Seats on Economy class have 15 and a half inches of width and 28 inches of pitch.
Spirit Airlines does not offer Premium Economy as a separate cabin. However, the airline offers passengers the chance to upgrade to the 'Big Front Seat', which is the equivalent of what you might expect from a Premium Economy Class.
In terms of service, Premium Economy (The Big Front Seats) is identical to Economy Class. The only difference is in the size of the seat and the addition of a tray table.
The Big Front Seat is 22 inches wide with 36 inches of width. There is no middle seat, so passengers have plenty of room. The seats are none-reclinable, but some Big Front Seat's do have adjustable headrests. Each seat has a tray table, which is an added extra from Economy Class.
Spirit Airlines doesn't offer Business Class. It's most upscale cabin class is the 'Big Front Seat', which is similar to other airline's Premium Economy Class.
Spirit Airlines does not offer a First Class cabin. The 'Big Front Seats' are the most premium seat available.

Spirit Airlines offers both Online check-in and Airport check-in. Online check-in is available to everyone other than those who require special assistance.
Online check-in is available through Spirit Airlines website. Just enter your flight details to check-in online. Web check-in opens 24 hours before your scheduled flight departure time and closes just one hour before.
Passengers unable to check-in online or need special assistance can check-in at the airport and one of the Spirit Airlines check-in desks. Arrive at least two hours before your departure time for domestic flights and at least three hours before your departure for international flights to allow time for check-in, baggage drop and baggage drop.
Spirit Airlines is not part of an airline alliance.

A paying adult passenger is permitted to carry one infant over seven days and under two years of age on their lap. However, the airline does encourage all adults travelling with children under the age of two to purchase a seat for their child and secure them in an FAA approved car seat.
One car seat and one stroller will be accepted per infant as checked baggage at no charge (not considered baggage allowance).
Spirit Airlines does not offer children fares. All infants above the age of two are not permitted to travel as a lap child and must have their own seats. FFA approved Car seats may be carried onboard the plane if a seat has been purchased for a child (one child per one car seat).

On domestic flights Spirit will accept dogs, cats and, on some routes, rabbits and small household birds within the cabin. Fees apply (except for service/emotional support animals) and pets containers count as carry-on allowance.
Spirit Airlines will not accept pets in the cabin for travel on international flights, except for service animals/emotional support animals.
Spirit Airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment on its flights. However, they do offer the option to buy Wi-Fi whilst flying.
To keep costs low for its passengers, Spirit Airlines does not offer TV shows on its flights.
Spirit Airlines does not offer movies on its flights.
Enjoy high-speed WIFI on all Spirit Airlines flights. Spirit Airlines has also installed WIFI on all of its aircraft so that passengers can access everything they need online on any and every Spirit Airlines flight. Spirit Airlines WIFI is available from the moment you board up until the moment you land and step off the plane.
Spirit Airlines WIFI is available for around $6.50 USD for the entire flight but varies depending on which route you're flying.
Food and Drink is available for purchase once you are onboard your Spirit Airlines flight.
Spirit Airlines offer a wide variety of food that can be purchased on board using a debit or credit card. Items available are snacks such as chips, nuts, cakes and confectionery.
Spirit Airlines do not currently offer and specific special meals, however, passengers can purchase items from the on-board menu that match their specific dietary requirements.
Passengers can buy alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from the onboard menu. Drinks available to purchase include cocktails, soft drinks, hot drinks, beers, wines and liquors.

Spirit Airlines has cut its schedule, following the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic. As the airline continues to face lowered demand, Spirit Airlines has made the decision to cut many routes from its network. These changes are expected to be temporary as travel recovers.

Spirit Airlines has unveiled a provisional deal to order 100 Airbus, from the A320neo-family of jets, which - once finalised - is to be delivered through to 2027. The order would hand the European planemaker a potential order in the $11 billion range.
The order would include a mix of all three of Airbus’s single-aisle models, from the A319neo to the A321neo, Spirit has said in a statement. The additional aircraft would be used to support the airline’s growth plans, as Spirit aims to add new destinations and expand its network across the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean in the near future.

Spirit Airlines has announced that it will offer a new non-stop service from Austin to Cancun, Mexico and add additional flights to Orlando from February 2020. It will also offer a non-stop service to Nashville and Newark from Austin in March 2020.
These new routes follow a previous announcement that new routes from Newark Liberty International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport to San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport will begin in December 2019.
