Buy Spice Shuttle Flights with Alternative Airlines

Spice Shuttle (Seaplane) is a new regional airline. The airline operates scheduled passenger flights, as well as private charter and scenic tours. The airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpiceJet, which is one of the largest and best-loved airlines in India.

The airline is pioneering aviation in India, becoming India’s first ever seaplane operator. SpiceJet began conducting seaplane trials in 2017, before announcing that commercial seaplane flights launched operations in October 2021. The seaplanes (Twin Otter seaplanes) will allow the airline to connect regions and communities that are otherwise hard to reach, due to difficult topography.

Spice Shuttle is being supported by the government’s UDAN scheme, which provides financial incentives and encouragement to a select number of airlines, with the aim of fostering greater connectivity to otherwise disconnected parts of India.

Top Tip: You can book Spice Shuttle flights with Alternative Airlines, using local payment providers, including Airtel and Paytm. You can even pay in the currency of your choice, whether that’s USD, Euros, or Indian Rupee (INR).

Baggage Policy

Due to the nature of the aircraft and route, only a limited weight of baggage is allowed. This information will also be detailed during the booking process and on your e-ticket.

Please don't exceed the weight allowed by the airline as you may not be able to travel with an item that is outside of the airline's limit.

Cabin Classes

Standard Seating

There is only standard seating onboard the flight, as there are just 15 seats. Onboard amenities might be limited, but passengers can enjoy a premium and exhilarating flight experience. This includes taking-off and landing on water, and stunning aerial views thanks to the low-altitude of the flight.

Facilities

Onboard facilities are limited. Passengers are welcome to bring snacks onto the flight, although the flight is only a short duration. Full amenities, including shops and W/C facilities, will be available before passengers depart, and once passengers have landed.

Ticket Fares

Under the government’s UDAN scheme, the airline’s flights will be offered at subsidised fares. The aim is to provide greater connectivity at affordable prices for locals, as well as encouraging tourism.

Airline Alliance

The airline is owned by SpiceJet, the second largest airline in the country. Tickets will be owned by SpiceJet, with the flights being operated under the Spice Shuttle brand.

Check-In Information

The airline currently only operates a single route, and departs from Sabarmati Riverfront, in the city of Ahmedabad. More information about arrival times and check-in will be provided during the booking process.

You must check-in before the check-in deadline listed on the airline website. If you're late for check-in, you may be refused to board the flight.

At Alternative Airlines, we recommend you to arrive at the airport two hours before your flight to give you plenty of time to check-in at the airport. You should report to the airline check-in counter as soon as you arrive. The dedicated airline check-in counter is displayed on the departure information board. Otherwise, please seek airport staff assistance.

SpiceJet has announced that it will be using a 300 De Havilland Canada Twin Otter seaplanes to begin operating new routes in India.
