Buy SAS Connect with Alternative Airlines

SAS Connect will be 1 of 2 new subsidiary airlines of Scandinavian Airlines Systems (SAS Airlines), due to launch in early 2022. SAS Group announced this airline as well as SAS Link in 2021 due to the group's financial results, with an aim of increasing competitiveness through low-cost carriers. The airline is planned to operate as a low-cost airline for the group serving domestic and north European routes. The airline is planned to be based at Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport. SAS Group hopes that as the airline establishes itself in 2022 it will slowly expand its operations to cover Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo Gardermoen. It is planned that the airline will begin operating with an all-Airbus fleet, being made up of the Airbus A320neo variant. The airline will be owned by SAS Group, operating under its own AOC (Air Operators Certificate) but everything else will operate under the SAS brand.

SAS Connect hasn't yet formally launched, however, you can still book tickets on mainline SAS Airlines, which cover a range of International, European and Scandinavian destinations.

Baggage Policy

The baggage policy for SAS Connect has yet to be announced.

Carry-on Baggage

SAS Connect is still in the planning phase, so hasn't officially launched yet. This means that the airline hasn't yet determined what their cabin baggage policy might be. However, it is expected that the airline will allow passengers to bring 1 personal item with them such as a handbag, small backpack or briefcase. It is not yet known if a cabin case will be included in the ticket or if this will be an additional charge as seen on other European carriers like Easyjet and Ryanair.

Checked Baggage

The airline hasn't yet published their baggage policy, however, it is assumed that as they will be a low-cost carrier, checked luggage won't come as standard for many ticket types. This means you may have to purchase checked baggage if travelling on a cheaper ticket type.

Cabin Classes

It is expected that SAS Connect will offer an all-economy product as the airline plans to operate as a low-cost carrier. As the A320 will be used, the seats will be laid out in 3x3 and may share the same design as SAS Airlines's A320neo. This could mean that the airline has 174 seats with a pitch of 30-31" and a width of 18". However, as the airline hasn't launched yet, the configuration of the cabin is yet to be seen. Complimentary meals, snacks, beverages as well as wifi and entertainment is not expected to be included. Luggage allowances may depend on the fare type booked, however, once the airline begins reservations this will become apparent.

Check-In

There's yet to be confirmation surrounding online and airport check-in, however, it's likely that passengers will have the option to do both.

Online Check-in

It is expected that SAS Connect will allow their passengers to check-in online or via an app. You will be able to do so on the SAS Airlines website or app.

Airport Check-in

SAS Connect will have airport check-in facilities available by using the desks and kiosks to parent company SAS Airlines. However, more details on this haven't been provided.

In-Flight Entertainment

As the airline will operate as a low-cost airline within Europe It is not expected that they will offer inflight entertainment on their aircraft.

Wi-Fi

SAS Airlines does offer Wifi onboard their aircraft at an additional price. However, it is unknown if low-cost subsidiary SAS Connect will also offer this.

Food & Drink

SAS Airlines currently doesn't offer complimentary snacks and beverages on their European flights for economy passengers. This means that it will be likely that SAS Connect will also not provide these for any passenger as they are a low-cost airline. However, it is anticipated that the airline will have inflight catering, where passengers can purchase snacks, drinks and meals during the flight.

Alternatives to SAS Connect

There are multiple airlines within Denmark and the wider European and Scandinavian area you could alternatively choose to travel with, such as Finnair, Lufthansa, TUIfly Nordic, Norra and more.

Hub Airport

Copengagen Kastrup Airport

SAS Connect plans to initially begin all operations from Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, so this will act as the airline's hub airport. The airline hopes to expand across Scandinavia and open bases in Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo Gardermoen. However, upon launch, Copenhagen will be the airline's hub. Kastrup airport offers numerous airlines with services to Europe and internationally making it great to connect onto another city. SAS Airlines already has a hub in Copenhagen, so passengers can easily travel with SAS Connect and transfer onto a long-haul SAS service. Copenhagen is served by Easyjet, British Airways, Delta, Emirates, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Sunclass and more with a diverse route network to Doha, London, Berlin, Bangkok, Rome, Beirut, Dubai, New York and others.

Fleet

SAS Connect will initially begin operating with 9 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Frequent Flyer Programme

It is expected that SAS Connect will be a member of parent group's EuroBonus frequent flyer program, where travellers can earn and redeem miles with SAS and partners.

Airline Alliance

It is not expected that SAS Connect will be a member of an airline alliance as it will operate as a low-cost airline. However, the airline could be an affiliate member of Star Alliance, as SAS is already a member. Information on this is still limited as the airline is yet to launch.
