Buy Hellenic Seaplanes Flights with Alternative Airlines

Hellenic Seaplanes is a seaplane company in Greece. Established in 2013, the company provides maintenance, training and other aviation services. The airline also offers charter, resort, and sightseeing flights, as well as private cargo and freight operations. Hellenic Seaplanes' main base is in Athens.

In 2021, it was announced that the airline will also be launching scheduled passenger seaplane flights. The airline will target routes that currently have limited transport links, to offer a faster alternative to travelling by sea. The airline aims to connect all of the Greek Islands to mainland Greece, flying between island ports, coastal cities and lakes throughout the country.

Why fly by seaplane? Flying by seaplane enables easier and quicker transport between mainland Greece and the country's beautiful islands. Hellenic Seaplanes aims to provide greater connectivity on routes that are currently underserved by alternative transport options such as boat.

Baggage Policy

Hellenic Seaplanes has different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage.

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger flying with Hellenic Seaplanes can carry one cabin bag into the seaplane, weighing up to 8 kg. Any hand baggage weighing more will be subject to excess weight fees.

Checked Baggage

In addition to carry-on baggage, additional baggage to be checked into the hold is available for a fee. The cost of each piece of baggage, weighing up to 23 kg, is estimated at 40 Euros (40 USD), plus VAT (subject to change).

Cabin Classes

The airline will only offer one standard class of seating. Despite the limited space within the aircraft, passengers can expect a premium and VIP experience, with unforgettable views of the islands and landscape below.

What are seats like?

The seaplanes can accommodate up to 19 passengers, depending on the aircraft. There are back-of-seat pockets but storage space for bags within the cabin will be limited.

Check-In

Hellenic Seaplanes doesn't offer online check in so passengers must check in at the airport.

Online Check-in

Online check-in is available through the airline’s website.

Airport Check-in

Alternatively, passengers can make their way to the private aerodrome to complete check-in at the counters. The small size of the airline’s facilities in comparison to other commercial airports means that this process is quick and easy.

Frequent Flyer Programme

AirSea Club

AirSea Club members can earn points each time that they fly with the airline. These points can then be redeemed for future flights with the company, as well as with the airline’s partner companies - which includes both travel (hotels, car hire) and non-travel (retail and restaurants) companies.

Alternatives to Hellenic Seaplanes

The following airlines operate domestic flights to islands within Greece: Bluebird Airways, Ellinair and Sky Express Greece.

Hub Airport

Hellenic Seaplanes will not operate scheduled flights from a typical commercial airport, but from private water ports and aerodromes. As part of the waterways development in Greece, the Hellenic Seaplanes company undertakes the licensing and management of these facilities. Thus, the airline is building its own network of waterways and aerodromes.

The company however is headquartered in Athens.

Fleet

The airline operates a mixed fleet of seaplanes, including the Twin Otter DHC-6, which can carry up to 19 passengers and will be used for scheduled passenger flights. The strength and flexibility of the aircraft offers a reliable and comfortable experience for passengers. The airline might also utilise its Cessna Caravan X aircraft, which can accommodate up to 13 passengers.

Destinations

Scheduled Flights

Scheduled flights have yet to commence. The airline hopes to offer a wide network of flights across Greece, connecting the mainland with popular islands.

Charter Flights

For charter operations, the airline specialises in flights to/among the following regions: Central Greece, Attica, Crete, Thrace, North Aegean islands, Macedonia, Epirus, Dodecanese islands, Peloponnese, Ionian islands, Western Greece, Cyclades islands and Thessaly.
