Nairobi based, expanding regional low cost carrier Fly 540 has bought local competitor East African Safari Air Express.

The acquisition will allow the airline to operate new routes to Juba, Sudan and Hargesia, Somalia and add frequencies on routes such as Kisumu, Mombasa and Malindi.
East African Safari Air Express was grounded in November due in part to disputes over aircraft leases. Fly 540, has subsequently leased two DC 9 aircraft previously flown by East African Safari Air to augment capacity on peak season flights between Entebbe and Nairobi, as well as Nairobi to Mombasa, Zanzibar, and Dar es Salaam.
