Air Tanzania has announced plans to increase the number of regional destinations it serves. The airline currently has daily flights from its base in Dar es Salaam to Kigoma and Tabora using a single Dash8 aircraft, but the National carrier is now looking to acquire a further two aircraft within the next six months, including one 100 seater jet aircraft.
New airports which are likely to be included in the expanded Air Tanzania network are: Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Mtwara, Arusha, Zanzibar, Lusaka, Johnnesburg, Nairobi, and The Comoros plus Muscat, Dubai and Mumbai.
Air Tanzania is likely to become a major competitor to the dominant, privately owned Tanzanian airline, Precision Air.
