Tianjin Airlines is the expanding regional airline of China with domestic, seasonal and charter flights from Tianjin Binhai International Airport.

Tianjin Airlines flies to many destinations including Chifeng, Dalian, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hohhot, Wenzhou, Xi'an, Shenyang, Ordos, Ji'nan, Wenzhou, Harbin, Taiyuan, Nanchang, Tianjin, Yantai and Changchun.

The airline's subsidiaries Hong Kong AirlinesLucky AirGrand China AirBeijing Capital Airlines and Fuzhou Airlines are also part of the program.

Tianjin Airlines announced it will launch a flight linking the Chinese cities of Tianjin and Xi'an with London on May 7th. The flight stops in Xi'an, the capital of northwest China's Shaanzi Province and home of the Terracotta Army, en route between Tianjin and London. This will be flown by a 260-seat Airbus A330 will operate the service. A one-way flight will take 13 - 14 hours, not including a 2-hour stopover in Xi'an.

The airline commenced operations in 2004 and merged with Hainan Airlines, China Xinhua Airlines, Chang'An Airlines and Shanxi Airlines and it was China’s largest regional airline.

In 2016, Tianjin Airlines serves 104 destinations including Shanghai, Xian, Dalian, Haikou, Shenyang and Hangzhou. For its long-haul expansion, They will launch flights from Tianjin via Chongqing to London Gatwick on 25th June.

Tianjin Airlines was founded in 2004 as Grand China Express Air and in 2009, the name was changed to Tianjin Airlines. Tianjin Airlines has built a regional route network with 6 hubs, Tianjin, Xi'an, Hohhot, Urumqi, Nanning and Guiyang. The routes are covering the whole country and neighbouring countries.

In 2011, they passed the IOSA (IATA Operation Safety Audit) and officially became a member of IATA. As an aviation enterprise co-established by Tianjin Government and HNA Group, They own a young and deluxe fleet. Tianjin Airlines' fleet consists of A320, E190 and ERJ145.

Baggage Policy

Tianjin Airlines has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage policy.

Carry-on Baggage

Domestic Flights: All passengers are entitled to at least one carry-on baggage that does not exceed 5kg in weight and more than 20 x 40 x 55cm in three dimensions (L x W x H). Business-class passengers can carry one baggage onboard.

International Flights: First and Business class passengers can bring two carry-on baggage with a weight not heavier than 10kg and no larger than 20 x 40 x 55cm. Economy class passengers are only allowed one carry-on baggage.

Checked Baggage

Baggage allowance depends on the route that passengers are flying to/from and the cabin class you fly in.

Check-In

Tianjin Airlines passengers can choose between airport or online check-in.

Online Check-in

Online check-in closes 3 hours before the scheduled departure time. The check-in opening time depends on the city and route. More information can be found on the airline's website.

Airport Check-in

The airport check-in counter opens three hours prior to departure time and closes between 30 to 60 minutes before departure depending on the route passengers are flying.

In-Flight Entertainment

In-flight entertainment is available on Tianjin Airlines' Airbus A330 aircraft. Business-class passengers have a 15.4-inch personal screen and economy class passengers have 10.6-inch seatback screens.

A range of Hollywood films, and classic Chinese films are available onboard. The airline constantly updates the content available.

Tianjin Airlines offers a number of special services for passengers.

Pregnant Women

Tianjin Airlines allows pregnant women to travel up until the 32nd week of pregnancy. Pregnant women must present a document stating that they are 'fit to fly' as well as the date of expectancy.

Unaccompanied Minors

Tianjin Airlines has considerate services for children who are flying alone. Tianjin Airlines advises that children shouldn't be travelling solo if they are under the age of 5 or sick and disabled under the age of 12. Unaccompanied Minors should have all the necessary documents when travelling alone including proof of parent/guardian consent.

Wheelchair Assistance

Food And Drink

There are complimentary food and drinks available on the airline's intercontinental flights for all passengers. Only business class passengers have free meals on domestic/ short-haul flights. However, passengers can pre-order their meal before the flight or purchase onboard. Please note that the airline is only accepting Chinese Yuan (CNY). Frequent Flyer Program

Tianjin Airlines along with its parent company Hainan Airlines operate a frequent flyer program called Fortune Wings Club to reward regular passengers with the airline.

Members can earn miles on flights as well as through consumption with Hainan Airline's credit card.

Members can be upgraded to Elite members which are divided into two tiers:

Fortune Wings Gold membership and Silver Card membership.

Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) is the Hub airport for Tianjin Airlines located in Tianjin. In 2021, Tianjin Binhai Airport handled over 15 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in China.

Currently, the most important airline that has their home base at this airport is Okay Airways and Tianjin Airlines. Other airlines which use Tianjin Binhai International Airport include Air China, Air Macau, Colorful Guizhou Airlines, Asiana Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines.

Fleet

The Airjet fleet consists of two Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia and three Jetstream 41. The Jetstream 41 is a turboprop regional airliner, the aircraft can accommodate up to 29 passengers in a two-by-one arrangement. The Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia is a twin-turboprop airliner, with a capacity of up to 30 passengers.

News

Tianjin Airlines was awarded 'Best Regional Airlines of the Year' by the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation in 2009, 'Best Domestic Regional Airlines of China' and 'World 4-star Airlines' by Skytrax in 2011. Tianjin Airlines became the youngest 4-star airline in the global civil aviation industry.

In March 2016, Tianjin Airlines became the first airline to offer scheduled services to the new airport in Qionghai in the Hainan region of China. Tianjin Airlines will begin four times weekly which links Guiyang to Qionhai via Zhuhai. There is no direct competition on this route. In mid-2015, Tianjin Airlines signed a contract for 22 Embraer aircraft and is part of a larger agreement made in 2014 for 40 aircraft.
