    Built in the 1930s, Burbank Airport, also known as Hollywood Burbank Airport, and legally Bob Hope Airport is an airport located in Los Angeles, California. It's around a 20–30-minute drive from downtown LA and Hollywood, making it the closest airport in LA to these areas.

    The airport facilitates a number of domestic US flights from US carriers, mainly flying to the western US, with a small number of routes to eastern cities in the US such as New York City and Boston.

    Excluding international airports, Burbank Airport is one of the more popular airports in the US, due to its closeness to Hollywood and downtown LA. Hollywood Burbank is the closest airport to these areas in all of LA.

    Runways

    The airport has two runways — runway 15/33 (2,099m x 46m) and runway 8/26 (1,768m x 46m). Due to the wind direction, runway 15/33 is where the majority of planes take off from. Whereas the majority of planes land at runway 8/26 is where the majority of planes land. Runway 8/26 is also the only runway with an Instrument Landing System (ILS).


    Terminals

    Hollywood Burbank Airport has one terminal building, which is split into two separate terminals. These are named Terminal A and Terminal B, with the gates inside each terminal numbered A1, A2, A3 etc and B1, B2, B3 etc.


    Terminal A

    Terminal A is slightly larger than Terminal B, with more gates. Airlines that fly exclusively out of Terminal A include American Airlines, JetBlue and Southwest.


    Terminal B

    Terminal B is the smaller terminal of the two. Airlines that fly to/from Terminal B include Alaska Airlines, Delta, Spirit, United and Avelo.

    How to get to Burbank Airport

    By driving

    There are a number of car rental companies at Burbank Airport, as well as parking facilities. The airport can be reached off of Interstate 5 and Highway 170/134.


    By bus

    The airport can be reached by bus on either the Metro Bus or the Burbank Bus. The Metro Bus connects downtown LA and the surrounding areas with Burbank Airport on bus lines 165, 169 and 222.

    Burbank Bus travels between Burbank Airport and Metro-North Hollywood Station on the Noho—airport route, which runs all day on weekdays.


    By taxi/uber/lift

    Taxis can be easily gotten from the airport as there's a designated taxi stand. Alternatively, you can use Uber or Lift to get you to your next destination.


    By rail

    The airport can be reached by rail via two train stations: Burbank Airport-South and Burbank Airport-North. The airport can be reached by either the Ventura County Line on the Metro rail or by the Amtrak Pacific Surfline line on the Amtrak regional rail.
