Sam Argyle Managing Director at Alternative Airlines: “We’re incredibly proud to be officially certified as one of the UK’s best workplaces. I’m proud of the initiatives we continue to roll out, to ensure that everyone at Alternative Airlines feels supported, valued, and has the opportunity to develop. In recognition of the company’s focus on mental wellbeing, the package includes 2 extra days of annual leave for personal wellness. To acknowledge and thank employees for their hard work, the package also includes substantial flight credit up to £1,000, as well as sabbatical leave based on length of service.
Emma Sheldon, Financial Controller at Alternative Airlines, led on the Great Place to Work® internal survey that resulted in the company being awarded the Best Workplace recognition. Emma commented: “We are thrilled to be officially recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces. We conducted an internal survey with Great Place to Work to gain invaluable feedback to help us plan further initiatives and policies even further. We have more initiatives in the pipeline, including the recent launch of our new charity fundraising initiative to support our local community. It is important to us that everyone feels fulfilled and happy working at Alternative Airlines”.
In 2022, Great Place to Work® conducted an internal survey and found that 97% of the company’s employees agreed that Alternative Airlines is a great place to work, with 97% of employees also agreeing that they’re treated like a full member regardless of their position. Alternative AIrlines’ fantastic survey results were used by Great Place to Work® in its rigorous evaluations of hundreds of survey responses to create the 2023 UK's Best Workplaces™ list.
“As the global authority on workplace culture, our mission at Great Place to Work® has always been to build a better world by helping organisations become a great place to work for all. We strongly believe in the notion of ‘better for business, better for people, better for the world,” said Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK.
“Best Workplaces™ consistently put people first – not just in terms of looking out for their own employees but also by caring for and supporting their surrounding community and environment. We’re incredibly proud to recognise the very best ‘For All’ organisations committed to equity and unfaltering in ensuring that all employees are empowered to deliver the right strategic solutions to ever-changing business opportunities and challenges.”
A great workplace is more than lavish perks, fancy parties and amazing benefits. While those elements are present in many Best Workplace™ organisations, at its core a great workplace is about the level of trust that employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs; and the extent to which they experience camaraderie with their colleagues.”
