Phuket International Airport (IATA code: HKT) is an international airport that serves the Phuket Province of Thailand.

Phuket Island is a popular resort destination in the southern part of Thailand and is home to world-famous Phuket beaches. The airport plays a major role in the country's tourism industry.

The airport is a hub for three airlines: Bangkok AirwaysThai AirAsia, and Thai Airways. The airport is towards the north of Phuket Island, 32 kilometres (20 mi) from the centre of Phuket City.

How to get to Phuket International Airport

By Bus

You can hop on the Phuket airport bus to Phuket Town. It runs every hour until 6:30 pm and is a handy, budget-friendly option if you're travelling light.

By Taxi

Metered taxis are available right outside the main terminal. Expect to pay:

  • Phuket Town – around 400 baht
  • Patong – roughly 550 baht
  • Kata or Karon – about 600 baht

    Add an airport surcharge of 100 baht on top. Always double-check the fare with your driver before you set off. The ride into town takes around 30 minutes.

By Private Minibus

Need more space or travelling with a group? You’ll find minibus service counters just outside arrivals. Choose between:

  • Private transfers (fixed rates, great for families or lots of luggage)
  • Shared minibuses – carry up to 10 people and cost around 200 baht per person

By Car Rental

  • Eating: Both Landside and Airside, there are different dining options available. The only large restaurant in the airport is the Thai Airways International Restaurant, situated on the third floor of the airport. There are also take-away options available.
  • Mobile Charging: Both Airside and Landside, there are several charging ports for digital devices.
  • Smoking: Smoking is not allowed in the main airport building, but there is a Smokers’ Pub and Cafe where smoking is permitted, which can be found in the terminal hall, floor 2.
  • Spa: There are sauna and spa facilities available, which can be found in the main terminal hall, floor 2.
