The Olympic Games happen every four years, typically in a leap year and are a significant global multi-sport event. The Olympics feature 40 sports overall, with 32 being held in Paris for the Summer Olympics 2024 and the remaining 8 in Milano Cortina, which is the Winter Olympics 2026 in Italy.

The Paris Olympics will take place from Friday 26th July - Sunday 11th August 2024. This will be the third time that Paris has hosted the Olympic games, with the other two times being in 1900 and 1924.

How to get to the Paris Olympics 2024 in France

Distance to Paris city centre: Paris Orly Airport (ORY) is located approximately 16km (10 miles) from the city centre and a convenient 30-40 minute drive, depending on traffic. Travellers have several options to reach the city centre from the airport. The quickest option is by taxi, although can be expensive. Alternatively, taking the train, will be more affordable, but does require changing lines and can take a little longer then 30-40 minutes. If you're travelling in a larger group, booking a private transfer before your arrival will provide a quick and easy way to reach the city centre. Taking the bus is the most affordable option, however, has a slightly longer travel time.

Paris Beauvais Airport (BVA) has little international connections compared to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris Orly Airport (ORY). The Airport provides routes to cities within Europe, through budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air. Additionally, it offers connections to some African cities, including Marrakesh.

Distance to Paris city centre: Paris Beauvais Airport (BVA) is around 85 km (53 miles) from the city centre. The airport has various transportation choices. You can opt for an affordable Shuttle Bus, which typically takes about 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic conditions. Alternatively, Taxi, Ride Share or Car Renting services offer a similar travel time, although at a higher price. Additionally, there's a direct train connecting the airport to the city centre.

When is the 2024 Paris Olympics?
