About United Airways Bangladesh

United Airways Bangladesh, operated as United Airways, was a Bangladeshi airline headquartered in Uttara, Dhaka. The airline operated flights from its main hub at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and its secondary hub at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.

The airline was founded in 2005, becoming the first listed company in the aviation sector of Bangladesh with its listing in 2010.

In September 2014, United Airlines temporarily suspended operations for three days following conflict among its board of directors and following a financial crisis. The airline eventually ceased operations in March 2016.

Former Destinations

When the airline was operational, it flew to the following destinations:

  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Barisal, Bangladesh
  • Chittagong, Bangladesh
  • Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh
  • Dhaka, Bangladesh
  • Doha, Qatar
  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Ishwardi, Bangladesh
  • Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
  • Jessore, Bangladesh
  • Karachi, Pakistan
  • Kathmandu, Nepal
  • Kolkata, India

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

One standard carry-on piece within typical dimensions (~55cm x 40cm x 23cm) and a weight limit of around 7kg (15.4lbs) was likely permitted. Additional personal items like purses or laptop bags might have been allowed depending on space and policy variations throughout the years.

Checked Baggage

Most likely offered one free checked bag with a weight limit in the range of 20kg (44lbs) to 30kg (66lbs), similar to common allowances for domestic airlines in Bangladesh and South Asia. Additional bags or exceeding the weight limit likely attracted excess baggage fees.

Check-In Information

Online Check-In

This option, likely available 24 hours before the flight, allowed passengers to print boarding passes at home or at airport kiosks, streamlining the process at the airport.

Airport Check-In

For those who preferred or couldn't check-in online, airport desks catered to baggage drop-off and document verification.

Cabin Class

There's a very small chance the airline might have offered two classes at some point, especially during its later years when it briefly operated an Airbus A310-300 for longer international flights. However, no concrete evidence or specific details about any potential Business Class have been confirmed.
