About North American Airlines
North American Airlines was an American airline that operated flights between 1980 and 2014. The airline offered scheduled passenger flights as well as cargo services within the USA and Mexico.
North American Airlines was founded in 1980 as an air cargo carrier, focusing on international routes. In 1986, the airline transformed into a passenger service, starting with connections between New York City, Florida and the Caribbean. During the 1990s, North American Airlines expanded its network, reaching more destinations across the eastern and southern United States, and adding Mexico to its route network.
In the early 2000s, North American Airlines faced financial difficulties due to rising fuel costs and an increase in competition. The airline attempted to restructure its business model and routes but failed to stabilise. This ultimately led to the airline filing for bankruptcy and ceasing operations in 2014.
