Cinnamon Air is a Sri Lankan airline that flies scheduled passenger flights. The airline is based at Colombo International Airport (CMB) and operates domestic flights to several destinations within Sri Lanka. Overall, the airline flies to more than 10 destinations.
The airline launched in 2013, with the objective of flying between Colombo, Kandy and Hambantota, which is collectively known as Sri Lanka's cultural triangle. But, as the airline grew, it expanded its route network to cover most major destinations within the country.
Cinnamon Air has a codeshare agreement with the national carrier of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Airlines, which means that any Cinnamon Air flight can be marketed as a Sri Lankan Airlines flight but actually be operated by Cinnamon Air.
As well as scheduled flights, the airline also flies charter and scenic flights.
Baggage Policy
Cinnamon Air has a different baggage policy for carry-on and checked baggage.
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers are given a free carry-on baggage allowance of 5 kg. Because Cinnamon Air planes are small, carry-on baggage is to be handed to the cabin crew before boarding, who will deal with storing the baggage.
Checked Baggage
Passengers are given a free checked baggage allowance of 23 kg. If a passenger's baggage exceeds this weight, they'll be charged an excess baggage fee for every extra kilogram past the 23 kg allowance.
All checked baggage must be dropped off and checked before the flight is scheduled to depart.
Cabin Classes
As Cinnamon Air only flies with small planes, it has one, small cabin area. The cabin is small and compact but gives plenty of room for each passenger and makes for a perfectly comfortable and enjoyable journey.
Although in-flight services are limited, passengers can enjoy the gorgeous view of Sri Lanka and it's mountain landscapes from the window.
Seats
Seats are set out in a 1 x 1 formation, with a maximum of eight seats per plane.
Check-In
Passengers flying with Cinnamon Air must check-in for their flight at the airport as online check-in isn't available.
Online Check-in
Online check-in isn't available on Cinnamon Air flights as of yet.
Airport Check-in
Passengers must check-in at the airport for their Cinnamon Air flight. Once arriving at the airport of departure, passengers should head to the airline check-in desk where the check-in process can be completed. Check-in at the airport closes 30 minutes before scheduled flight departure time but passengers should aim to arrive at the airport in advanced of this. This is to allow each passenger to comfortably check-in, drop baggage, pass through security and board their flight.
Food & Drink
Food and drink aren't provided to passengers in-flight and there's no option to purchase it either. Passengers are welcome to bring their own food and drink with them on the flight, providing it's allowed past security.
In-Flight Entertainment & Wi-Fi
Due to the size of the planes and short flight times, in-flight entertainment and WIFI isn't available on any Cinnamon Air flights.

Hub Airport
Colombo International Airport
Colombo International Airport (CMB) is the primary international airport in Sri Lanka and the hub airport for Cinnamon Air. Cinnamon Air has used Colombo International as its hub since it began flights in 2013. The airport has four terminals (three passenger and one cargo) and one runway, with an additional two planned. Cinnamon Air operates out of Terminal 3, which is also known as the domestic terminal.
Other airlines that use Colombo International as a hub include Sri Lankan Airlines and Millenium Airlines. There are plenty of other airlines that fly to/from the airport that don't use it as a hub, including Air China, Cathay Pacific, Edelweiss Air, flydubai, GoAir, Malindo Air, Salam Air, Spicejet, Vistara and more.
