The airline is based at Nome Airport, Alaska, and mainly operates domestic scheduled charter and passenger airline services Although, it does fly as air ambulance and helicopter services too. Overall, the airline flies to more than 30 destinations, mainly focussing on locations along the northwest coast of Alaska.

The airline launched in 1979 and is an FAA-certified US regional airline. Although it's primarily based at Nome Airport, it does have secondary hubs in Kotzebue and Unalakleet.

Aside from its scheduled flights, the airline can also charter flights throughout Alaska, Canada, the majority of US states (excl Hawaii) and in parts of Russia.

Bering Air regularly maintains and refurbishes its fleet regularly. Its team of highly skilled airline and aviation professionals provide an outstanding service that has given the airline the reputation of the most reliable airline within its region of Alaska.

Baggage Policy

Bering Air has a maximum check-in luggage allowance of 22kg (50lb) - any baggage over the free allowance will be charged at the applicable excess baggage rates.

If you have over 90kg (200lb) of baggage, please contact the airline 72 hours prior to departure to make arrangements.

Cabin Classes

The airline operates a fleet of small/light aircraft and helicopters, with a limited number of passengers and only one cabin class. Due to the limited size of its planes, the airline doesn't have the capacity to carry in-flight attendants onboard. As a result, the airline doesn't offer food and drink service, in-flight entertainment or WIFI.

Although the onboard facilities might are limited, the sights of Alaska offer an incredible experience — camera's are advised!

Nome Airport

Nome Airport (or Greater Sudbury airport) is a state-owned airport in the city of Nome, Alaska and the hub airport for Bering Air. The airline has used Bering Air as its hub since it launched in 1979. The airport has two runways, one terminal building and serves over 60,000 passengers each year.

Bering Air is the main airline that uses the airport and the only airline that currently uses it as a hub. Other airlines that fly to/from the airport include Alaska Airlines, Pathfinder Aviation and Ryan Air Services.

Cancellation Policy

Bering Air offers both refundable and non-refundable tickets. The rules of the ticket will be available for passengers to read at the time of purchase. The airline will give passengers a full refund for any unused portion of the ticket, however, a $50 USD fee will apply in order to cancel the flight and process the refund.

If you want to make your flight completely refundable with no extra fees, regardless of the rules of the ticket, you can purchase Cancellation Protection when you buy your Bering Air flight with Alternative Airlines. Cancellation Protection will entitle you to a full refund on your ticket if you can't use it for any of the emergency circumstances as set out in the terms and conditions. This includes circumstances such as adverse weather, scheduled airline failure and illness/injury.
