Avatar Airlines is a start-up airline based in Florida, in the United States.
Avatar Airlines aims to become a leading ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) within the domestic US market. The proposed airline will provide scheduled passenger services within the US.
The airline has announced plans to build a fleet of 14 high-density configured Boeing 747-400’s. The airline also intends on adopting a unique business model, which would rely on significant advertising revenues — including advertising on their plane exteriors.
Avatar was originally incorporated as Family Airlines (Las Vegas McCarran), before renaming as Avatar Airlines. To begin operating, the airline applied for a certificate of public convenience with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) in 2008. This was unsuccessful, so the airline tried again in 2014. This application was also unsuccessful. In February 2020, the airline submitted another application.

Fleet
Avatar Airlines hopes to be an ultra-low-cost carrier, exclusively operating Boeing 747-400s aircraft.
The 747-400 can have 580+ seats in a high-density configuration. It has yet to be confirmed by the airline exactly what the configuration will be, but it is likely there will be 530+ economy seats on the lower deck and 40+ higher class seats on the upper deck.
