Air Kerala is a new ultra-low-cost airline based in Kerala, India. It's currently being backed by Dubai-based investors and ZettFly Aviation Private Limited. It plans to launch operations in June 2025.
One of Air Kerala's goals is to improve domestic and international connectivity. Its ultimate objective is to provide affordable and convenient travel to the people of Kerala.
Air Kerala will initially start with the ATR 72-600 aircraft, with plans to eventually have a fleet of 20. The airline will be based at Kannur International Airport (CNN), with hopes to one day expand to the Middle East.
Planned Destinations
Air Kerala hasn't announced which international destinations it will fly to yet. In terms of domestic trips, it has stated that it will operate flights from Tier 2 and 3 cities to Tier 1 cities within India. Therefore, we can reasonably assume it will fly to the following destinations:
- Kerala
- Tier 1 cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore
- Tier 2 cities: Mysuru/Mysore (officially confirmed), Amritsar, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Nagpur, Patna, Surat, Visakhapatnam
- Tier 3 cities: Agra, Ajmer, Allahabad, Aurangabad, Calicut, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Gwalior, Jhansi, Jodhpur, Kota, Kollam, Mathura, Nanded, Nashik, Ooty, Pondicherry, Rajahmundry, Shillong, Trichy, Udaipur, Varanasi
Baggage Policy
Air Kerala (as of early 2025) is yet to announce its carry-on and checked baggage policies.
Carry-on Baggage
Usually, on long-haul flights, airlines will allow you to bring a carry-on bag (H56cm x W45cm x D25cm) and a small personal item such as a briefcase, free of charge. On short-haul flights, whether baggage is free or not entirely depends on the airline.
Carry-on baggage must fit in the overhead lockers and under the seat in front. No prohibited items should be packed inside your carry-on baggage, including any liquids over 100ml. Prohibited items found by airport security or by the immigration department upon arrival could be confiscated.
Checked Baggage
Likewise, Air Kerala hasn't announced its checked baggage policies, so we've outlined the standard amount instead.
Your baggage allowance will likely vary depending on the ticket fare you eventually purchase. On domestic flights, many airlines will charge you for a piece of checked baggage which will range from 24kg-32kg and on international flights it's likely that airlines will allow you to bring one piece of checked baggage free of charge.
Checked baggage cannot weigh over 32kg due to international health and safety regulations and it must not exceed the permitted size allowance.

Kannur Airport (CNN) is an international airport serving the regions of Kannur and Kerala. It has one integrated terminal for both domestic and international flights.
Air Kerala will be the first airline to have Kannur International Airport as its hub.

Air Kerala Announces Second Airport
Air Kerala has just announced that it will serve not only Kannur International Airport (CNN) but also Mysuru Airport (MYQ) in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. This makes it the first officially confirmed flight destination other than Air Kerala's hub in Kannur.
