About Universal Air
Universal Air is a new airline in Malta that commenced operations in late March 2024. It offers international flights to multiple Mediterranean locations. Its hub is Malta International Airport (MLA), and its fleet is comprised of De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Dash 8s. It aims to be budget-friendly and prioritises a comfortable flight experience that extends to when you touch the ground, with its fast baggage collection and helpful staff.
Cabin Classes
Universal Air offers three cabin classes, so you can select the fare that best suits your budget and travel needs.
Eco Lite
Eco Lite is Universal Air's most affordable cabin class. It's the perfect way to save money during your trip.
Eco Plus and Eco Flex
Get the chance to select your seat when booking and enjoy a larger baggage allowance. Further baggage details are below.
Baggage Policy
Universal Air has different baggage policies depending on your cabin class.
Carry-on Baggage
- Eco Lite - 1 small bag to fit underneath your seat (a handbag or a laptop bag).
- Eco Plus and Eco Flex - The same as Eco Lite plus one cabin bag up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm and 7kg.
- If your hand luggage exceeds these maximums, it will join the checked baggage and may require additional fees.
Checked Baggage
- Eco Lite - Checked baggage isn't included in your fare ticket however if you pay a small additional sum you can bring a checked bag.
- Eco Plus - 1 x 15kg.
- Eco Flex - 1 x 20kg.
- You can purchase additional baggage.
- Bags weighing more than 32kg won't be allowed onto the aircraft.
Check-In
Airport Check-in
Check-in facilities will be available at the airport. They open two hours before scheduled departure and close 40 minutes before the flight, so make sure you're not late.
Online Check-in
Universal Air provides online check-in. Prioritise comfort by checking in from home. Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and closes three hours before leaving.
In-Flight Entertainment & Wi-Fi
Universal Air provides an in-flight magazine packed with information to keep you entertained. The magazine features cultural facts, travel tips and updates, and the flight's mouthwatering menu.
Food & Drink
