The airline was set up in 1958 with the ambition of bringing an air taxi service to the Emden area. The airline was originally established and operated as Ostfriesische Lufttaxi before it was later rebranded as Ostfriesische Lufttaxi GmbH in 1970 after a local shipping company invested, however, this was not the last rebrand of the airline. The company changed its name to Ostfriesische Lufttransport GmbH and operated super-regional services under the DLT Luftverkehrsgesellschaft brand name, finally, in 2011 the airline became Ostfriesischer-Flug-Dienst GmbH (OFD), the name it still operates under. The airline has a fleet of 2 aircraft types, they use the GA 8 Airvan as well as the slightly larger Britten Norman Islander, which seats up to 8 passengers. OFD operate services across North-West Germany and the North Sea connecting small towns and islands.
Baggage Policy
As the airline operates small aircraft, which have limited space which means the baggage allowance is also limited. Baggage is included in your ticket, however, this is only 10kg of weight across both suitcases and hand luggage. Children are allowed to carry 5kg of luggage only. If you wish to take more luggage with you then you will need to contact the airline to check if this is an option, if allowed the maximum weight for a case is 25kg and each kilogram of additional weight will cost €2.
Cabin Classes
The airline only offers one class of travel on all of their aircraft, as their flights are short and aircraft are not large enough to offer a premium seat, the airline has chosen to offer economy only. As flight times are short an inflight catering service is not provided, neither is an inflight duty-free or shopping service. All passengers receive the same seat type, a standard seat found on these aircraft types.

Through these partnerships, the airline allows a flexible ticket type where you can use the airline or ferry company, however, rules stipulate you need to use the opposite mode of transport on your return journey. For Example, you may fly out with the airline but must return on the ferry and vice versa.
