1. Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)
As the nation’s primary hub, Tbilisi is the starting point for most domestic travellers. In 2025, it surpassed 5 million total passengers.
Domestic Role: It serves as the main gateway for flights to Batumi. It also acts as the logistical base for most airlines operating in the country.
2. Alexander Kartveli Batumi International Airport (BUS)
Located on the Black Sea coast, Batumi saw a massive 30% growth in 2025, welcoming over 1 million travellers.
Domestic Role: It is the busiest domestic destination. Frequent scheduled flights run between Batumi and Tbilisi, especially during the summer months when coastal tourism peaks.
3. Natakhtari Airfield
While technically a "specialised" airfield rather than a major commercial airport, Natakhtari is the true heart of domestic travel in Georgia.
Domestic Role: Located just 30km north of Tbilisi, this is the home base for Vanilla Sky. If you are flying to the mountains (Mestia or Ambrolauri), you will almost certainly depart from here rather than the main Tbilisi International Airport.
4. Queen Tamar Airport (Mestia)
Often cited as one of the most beautiful airports in the world due to its unique modern architecture and alpine setting in Svaneti.
Domestic Role: This is a purely domestic airport. It connects the high mountain region of Svaneti to both Natakhtari (Tbilisi) and Kutaisi. Because of its location, flights here are highly weather-dependent.
5. Ambrolauri Airport
Located in the Racha region, this airport was built to boost tourism in Georgia's "hidden gem" wine and mountain district.
Domestic Role: It serves small 17-seater planes coming from Natakhtari. While it has lower passenger volumes than the others, it is a critical link for travellers looking to skip the 5-hour drive from the capital.
