A trip to Charleston would not be complete without getting some sunshine at the local beaches.
Roughly 20-25 minutes drive from downtown Charleston, Sullivan's Island beach, 3 miles of white sand a perfect place for a relaxing atmosphere. Limited parking spots available, suggest arrive early with time to find a place to park in the residential areas nearby.
Dogs are allowed however both residents and visitors must possess a permit/license issued by the Town Hall including adhering to seasonal leash rules.
Sullivan's Island has stations going all down the beach, known as access points. For the best spot, we advise station 16 and 28 1/2. This is because of its calming and relaxing atmospheres, less crowded areas and scenic environments.
For our nature lovers, station 16 gives you beautiful woodland walks and access to the boardwalk. If you would like to watch the world go by and take in all the vibrant and active life of locals.
Station 28 1/2 gives you access to watch parasailing and windsurfers as well as a view to the very unique 'UFO' house. Built in 1976 by architect Peter Vander Klout is a private hurricane resistant home shaped like a flying saucer.
For lunch spots, the best accessibility is on stations 21 and 22 for the Crush Yard, commended for their Pickelball! The Obstinate Daughter, a country chic place that has local craft beers and brunch. As well as many others including Poe's Tavern, serves classic American grub with decor devoted to the famous author Egar Allan Poe.
