BA CityFlyer is a regional airline and subsidiary of British Airways. Its head office is in Manchester in the United Kingdom. The airline operates a network of domestic and European routes out of London City Airport.

The airline operates all of its services with the official British Airways colours, titles and flight numbers. BA CityFlyer used to also operate out of Edinburgh Airport, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic it closed down its hub there and now operates most of its flights out of Southampton and London.

BA CityFlyer was founded in 2007 and currently holds the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence - this means it can carry passengers, cargo and mail on any aircraft with 20 or more seats.

Baggage Policy

BA CityFlyer is wholly owned by British Airways, therefore, the baggage rules will be the same.

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers are given one item of free carry-on baggage and one free small personal item.

The free carry-on bag cannot exceed 23 kg in weight or 56 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm (22" x 17.7" x 9.8") in dimensions.

The free small personal item cannot exceed 23 kg in weight or 40 cm x 15 cm x 30 cm (15.7" x 5.9" x 11.8") in dimensions.

Checked Baggage

Passengers free checked baggage allowance will depend on the cabin class that the passenger is flying in. The table below details the free checked baggage allowance of each cabin class:

Economy Class: 1 or 2 pieces of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23–32 kg, depending on the route flown.

Premium Economy: 2 pieces of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg per bag on all flights.

Business Class: 2 pieces of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 32 kg per bag on all flights.

First Class: 3 items of free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 32 kg per bag on all flights.

Check-In

BA Cityflyer passengers can check in at the airport or use their online check-in system.

Online Check-in

Passengers can check-in online for their BA CityFlyer flight on the British Airways online check-in page. Online check-in opens 24 hours before scheduled flight departure time.

Airport Check-in

Passengers that are unable to check-in online can check-in at the airport. This can be done by visiting one of the British Airways airport check-in desks with the relevant travel documents. Airport check-in closing times differ depending on the airport of departure.

London City Airport is a regional airport in London, United Kingdom. It is frequently used by British Airways and BA CityFlyer. In 2019, the airport served over 5 million passengers. London City Airport is also a hub for Odyssey Airlines.

Southampton Airport is an international airport in Southampton, United Kingdom. It is currently used by British AirwaysEastern Airways and other regional airlines. Until 2020, the majority of flights from Southampton were operated by Flybe, a British airline which ceased operations in March 2020.

Edinburgh Airport is the busiest airport in Scotland, handling almost 15 million passengers in 2019. It's currently a hub for West Atlantic as well as a focus city for BA CityFlyer, easyJet and Jet2.com.

Fleet

As of March 2023, BA CityFlyer's fleet consists of 20 Embraer 190 aircraft. Each of these can seat up to 98 passengers.

The airline used to operate its flights with the Avro RJ85 and Avro RH100 but these were retired in 2010. It also retired its Embraer 170s in 2021.
