About Air Scandic

Air Scandic (previously NextJet) was a Swedish airline, operating a number of domestic routes within Sweden and international routes throughout Scandinavia from their base at Stockholm Arlanda airport. The airline had 15 aircraft, 330 employees and serves over 20 destinations in Scandinavia.

Under NextJet, Air Scandic had a codeshare agreement with SAS, interline agreements with KLM, Finnair, Air France, Qatar and Wideroe. It ceased operations in May 2018 after filing for bankruptcy.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Air Scandic passengers were allowed to take on one item of carry-on baggage. The baggage must not exceed 5kg and wasn't allowed to be any larger than the maximum dimensions of 45 x 35 x 20cm.

Checked Baggage

Passengers flying Economy Class with Air Scandic were entitled to one item of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg.

Passengers flying Business Class with Air Scandic were entitled to one item of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg, plus an additional item of checked baggage of the same weight.

All Air Scandic passengers travelling with checked baggage needed to show an ID card. If Air Scandic passengers were travelling with only carry-on luggage, they could travel without an ID card.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) was the airport hub of Air Scandic and is the biggest international airport in Sweden. Stockholm Arlanda is used as a gateway by passengers who want to travel throughout Sweden and for the Swedish public who want to travel across the world.

Airlines other than Air Scandic that operate to and from Stockholm Arlanda Airport include Air France, Air China, Air Berlin, Aeroflot, Aegean, Norwegian Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines.

Air Scandic flew to an extensive network of destinations within Scandinavia, including Kokkola, Mariehamn, Oulu, Turku, Trømso, Arvidsjaur, Gallivare, Goteborg, Hemavan, Jonkoping, Karlstad, Kramfors, Luleå, Stockholm, Sundsvall, Visby, Ornskoldsvik, Vilhelmina and many others.

Fleet

Air Scandic had a fleet of BAe ATPs, Saab 340As, Saab 340Bs, Bombardier CRJ200s and ATR 42-300s. The airline also used two business jet aircraft to serve taxi and executive charter flights.

10th May 2018

NextJet rebrand as Air Scandic

After filing for bankruptcy on 17th May 2018, NextJet has been purchased by a Swedish company owned by Olsen Group and Danish Air Transport and will now rebrand as 'Air Sandic'. The airline shut down operations in mid-May but will relaunch and serve some of the routes that it used to fly under the NextJet name.

Air Scandic will initially operate flights from Stockholm Arlanda to Mariehamn. It will later fly other routes which are yet to be announced.
