On April 28, 2022, Malindo Air underwent a rebranding process and was renamed Batik Air Malaysia as part of the Lion Group's initiative to create a unified identity for its full-service airlines under the group.
Malindo Air, also known as Batik Air Malaysia, was a Malaysian hybrid airline which had headquarters in Petaling Jaya in Malaysia and had Hubs at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB). The airline had 800 flights travelling weekly to over 40 destinations, which included 31 destinations to India, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal and Pakistan. The airline generally provided hybrid on its aircraft, meaning they operated with a premium service business model with different fares, allowing customers to opt between full-service to cheaper fares with fewer amenities.
Commencing operations on 22 March 2013, the carrier was the first airline to operate the brand new dual-class layout B737-900ER in Malaysia. The airline’s inaugural flight took off from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on 22 March 2013 and had then expanded to include popular regional destinations in Thailand, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Nepal with the first international flight departing for Dhaka, Bangladesh on 28 Aug 2013.
Malindo Air started its ATR72-600 operations from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang Skypark on 3 June 2013. The carrier operated a young fleet of Boeing 737-900ER, 737-800 and ATR72-600 aircraft for both domestic and international flights.
Prior to Malindo Air's rebrand, their frequent flyer programme was called 'Malindo Miles'.
Due to the rebranding of Malindo Air to Batik Air Malaysia, the Malindo Miles program was integrated into the Malaysia Airlines frequent flyer program, Enrich.
If you had any Malindo Miles points, luckily, they would have been converted to Enrich points. These Enrich points can then be used to redeem flights, upgrades, and other rewards, now with Batik Air Malaysia instead of Malindo Air.
