Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan had very strict travel restrictions meaning airlines within Japan operated fewer international flights than usual. But as of October 2022, Japan will be reopening its borders for visa-free travel, allowing its national carriers, including ANA and Japan Airlines, to increase the number of international flights. There's been a surge in demand for travel to Japan and ANA have stated it will push more international flights to meet this demand.
