Plans to introduce a single tourist visa for those travelling to south-east Asia might make it easier for holidaymakers with Vietnam Airlines flights to Hanoi to travel between countries in the region.
The scheme is being worked on by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and could see destinations such as Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bali included, reports the AFP.
Currently, visitors to the region have to get visas individually and the processes and laws surrounding entry into each country vary.
Stuart MacDonald, who runs travelfish.org, highlighted the importance of the issue.
"One of the most common questions that we see on travelfish.org is people asking visa questions: What kind of visa can I get? How long is it valid for? What does it cost?" he asserted.
Earlier this month, the World Economic Forum published its Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index 2011, which saw Vietnam rise nine places above its 2009 position - another fact that might tempt holidaymakers to book Vietnam Airlines flights to the country.
