Visitors heading to Russia on Transaero flights to Moscow will soon have access to a new information system to make navigation of the city easier.
A new information system to help tourists is being developed as part of a plan to make it easier for visitors to Moscow to find their way round the city.
Sergei Shpilko, head of Moscow's tourism committee, told the Izvestia daily that some measures that do not need large amounts of funding will be implemented "as soon as possible", reports RIA Novosti.
The tourism official said the capital needs to develop chains of cheaper hostels and hotels closer to the historic centre and that tourist facilities need to be improved.
"As part of a complex plan for 2011 we are tasked with developing an information portal and a system of navigation like in other capitals," Mr Shpilko added.
Last year, the government approved a programme worth 332 billion rubles (£7.2 billion) to boost tourism in Russia.
One of the main attractions for visitors to Moscow is the Kremlin, which houses one of the largest museums in the world as well as the country's state regalia.
