Holidaymakers hoping to enjoy a trip abroad on a budget may find that booking flights to Tirana provides them with the low-cost vacation they are looking for.

The county's tourism sector has grown stronger in recent years and in the World Economic Forum's most recent Travel & Tourism Index, Albania jumped 19 places compared with its position in 2009 to rank at 71st in the world.

It was praised in the report for its "openness to foreign travellers" and the awareness of the value of the tourism industry among the country's businesses.

Among the sights visitors to Tirana who arrive on Albanian Airlines flights may be able to enjoy are the Skanderberg Monument and the National Historic Museum.

Travel writer Megan Wood recently noted that another benefit of the country is the low cost of travelling there.
