Vietnam Airlines may be preparing to add Airbus A380s to its fleet of around 70 aircraft in the coming years.
The plane is the largest in the world and if the company goes ahead with its plan to increase its operations, it is expected to expand the number of aircraft it has by up to 100 by 2020.
Local media reports in the country suggested that while the ministry of transport has backed plans to purchase A380s, it has also asked the company to submit plans to justify the massive investment and explain how it will generate profit.
Some $8.38 billion (£5.28 billion) has been allocated to modernise the firm's fleet, which may mean travellers planning to book flights to Hanoi in the future will have even more transport options in the coming years.
This comes after Vietnam Airlines announced that it would be increasing the services it offers between July 1st and August 15th in a bid to cope with the heightened demand during the peak summer season, Vietnam News reported.
