Vietnam Airlines, the expanding National carrier, has launched its first air route from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong delta city of Can Tho and the Phu Quoc island.
The new flight commenced operations on March 28th 2010 using Can Tho international airport and Vietnam Airlines will fly the route flights times each week, every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, using an ATR-72 turbo prop aircraft.
Vietnam Airlines has also introduced new direct flights between Vietnam and Shanghai, China from March 29th 2010. These will operate three times per week with direct flights between Hanoi and Shanghai and four times per week from Ho Chi Minh City. These new flights are In addition to the existing services to China which connect Vietnam to Beijing, Canton and Kunming,
