Vietnam Airlines will face new competition from start-up airline, Air Mekong which is due to start flying in October 2010.
The Vietnamees Government has announced that Air Mekong would launch its first domestic flights in October using a Bombadier CRJ-900 aircraft flying between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Dalat, Danang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Haiphong. Air Mekong is not planning to operate as a low cost budget airline with ticket prices being comparable to those of the national flag carrier
Vietnam Airlines.
