Five months after the original launch date for services ,Vietjet Air is  seeking approval from the Vietnam Transport Ministry and the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) to launch domestic operations in May-2010.

The new carrier has requested an extension to its December -2009 deadline to launch operations as it requires more time to complete procedures to obtain an aircraft operations certificate.

The new airline plans to launch with two leased A320s  operate domestic services within Vietnam to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang, before expanding to Bangkok, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Korea and Japan;
