Vietnam Airlines (full) and Tarom of Roumania (associate) are ready to become members of the powerful SkyTeam alliance with the announcement likely to be made next month.

Both airlines are being audited will need to demonstrate fulfillment and understanding of the requirements to deliver the SkyTeam customer service standards before being admitted for membership. With the merger of Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines completed, SkyTeam now consists of 9 full members and 2 associate members. . However, the joining of Vietnam Airlines in June 2010 will bring the total number of full member airlines in the alliance back up to 10 and the joining of Tarom in Summer 2010 will bring the total of associate members in the alliance back up to 3.
Founding members of SkyTeam are AeroMexico, AirFrance-KLM, Delta and Korean Airlines. More recent members are Aeroflot, Alitalia, China Southern and Czech Airlines. Associate members are Air Europa and Kenya Airways.
